== Description ==

Hearth was once a thriving T2 world, absolutely secure in the dominance of their home system and purveyor of food to the rest of the cluster. Unfortunately, several of its leading factions got into a small war that lasted about three years. Unfortunately, a terrestrial war that involves ships that can redirect asteroids can have terrifying repercussions, and in this case, it was an impact winter that lasted for over thirty years, followed by widespread glaciation. Even now, the temperate breadbaskets are covered with ice and snow, and there was a very real possibility that civilization would die out.

But they were a T2 civilization, and they had asteroid redirection technology for a reason - moving large rocks into useful orbits for mining. The desperate need not for food but for farm space led to a more metaphorical explosion, this time in orbital habitat construction. While much of Hearth is still covered in snow, countless glass domes in orbit, made from nicklel-iron rocks and boro-silicate glass, are veritable jungles of life all set to drop their delicious cargos to the world below.

Culturally, the people of Hearth are just as quick-tempered as they were before their 'little dispute got out of hand,' but now that their lives are more visibly on the edge of destruction, they're much better at keeping things from escalating too far. Many arguments get physical quickly, but don't involve weapons - instead, after a few hits, the combatants clap each other on the shoulder, complement each other on their performance, and usually get a celebratory drink.
